The project centred on the revamp of an existing church website that had become neglected over time. The previous interface was broken in several places, the content display was not working properly, and it was not intuitive enough for visitors, particularly the older generation. The aim was to create a user-friendly website that would both keep the community informed and support day-to-day operations.
The main focus of the redesign was on simplicity, transparency and ease of use. The new design has a cleaner and more organised look, whilst the back-end admin interface has also been redesigned so that staff managing the website can work on it without any significant technical difficulties. To support this, a training manual has also been produced to ensure that uploading and editing content continues to run smoothly in the long term. Another key consideration in the website’s structure was to ensure that communication, which had previously been channelled via external platforms, is once again linked more seamlessly back to our own online platform.
The biggest problem with the previous website was that it was no longer functioning reliably, and its appearance did not convey a neat, confidence-inspiring image. Images were not displaying correctly, the site was falling apart in several places, and important information was not easy enough to find. A particular challenge was that many of the visitors were older users, so greater emphasis than usual had to be placed on clear navigation and ease of use. It was also important that the internal interface not only worked but was genuinely usable even for those without a technical background.
During the project, we completely rethought the visual and content structure of the website so that visitors could find the information relevant to them more quickly. A key priority was also to simplify the user interface so that church staff could upload and update content independently. A dedicated training guide was produced to facilitate day-to-day use. We have also integrated the YouTube channel, so that video content and news items appear directly on the website. In addition, we have developed an easy-to-use event management system to assist with the publication of programmes, events and invitations, and we have organised the documents that can be uploaded so that everything is accessible in a more transparent and logical manner.
The end result is a more organised, user-friendly website that is also easier to manage in the long term, and which supports the community’s online presence in a more fitting manner. It has become easier for visitors to find their way around and keep track of events and content, whilst internal users can also update the site more easily. With YouTube integration, the website has once again taken on a more active role in communication, whilst the more organised presentation of documents and programmes has made the entire interface much more user-friendly. Overall, a more stable digital foundation has been created, which is not only more attractive but also much more practical in use.
